of Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning heat pumps and Lossnay air
exchange units for Dangstein Music Studio (12/03/12) Dangstein Music Studio Air Conditioning Images:
Background:
Orion air conditioning & refrigeration ltd were kindly asked to install air conditioning heat-pumps systems for Dangstein music studio owned by Damien Montague known worldwide for his exceptional television music compositions and Television music career. Dangstein music studio is a ancient stone building completely renovated in a modern style and is set in a amazing woodland location. A peaceful and idyllic location on the outside but inside a jaw dropping facility for music composition and production. The inside of the music studio is supported by state-of-the-art production and recording equipment and split into four spacious areas (control room, live room, booth and art studio) which are completely dedicated to their individual application. Orion air conditioning were asked to install "extremely quiet" air conditioning heating equipment and air exchange for the "Live Room", "Control room" and the "art studio". The bonus of having a air exchange system in a music studio is that the air never gets stale and is always fresh thus keeping the occupants fresh. This is important when a building is very well insulated with 100mm rock wool sound insulation and double plaster board finish to comply with sound regulations.
Control Room: One Mitsubishi Electric PEAD-RP35JAQ (3.5KW) ducted air conditioning heat pump and one Mitsubishi Electric LGH-35RX5-E Lossnay Ducted Heat Exhanger were installed in the control room with large 200mm sound attenuators on each inlet of the circular diffusers entering the room to control any noise and dampen any sound from the Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning and Lossnay units. The control room is a 35 square meters area with state-of-the-art recording and monitoring units with certain equipment expelling heat. The air conditioning and air exchange equipment was slightly oversized so it would not have a need to run at full power and would operate within its lower Db output levels. This made for a very quiet system that added 3 Db@1M to the ambient Db of the control room (30Db). The control room was insulated with Rockwool sound insulation, double plaster board and a felt material finish. Live Room: One Mitsubishi Electric PEAD-RP50JAQ (5KW) ducted air conditioning heat pump and one Mitsubishi Electric LGH-35RX5-E Lossnay Ducted Heat Exhanger were installed in the live room with large 200mm sound attenuators on each inlet of the square type double diffusion diffusers entering the live area at high level. The control room is a 45 square meters area with a open space for acoustic and live set recording. As with the control room the air conditioning and air exchange equipment was slightly oversized so it would not have a need to run at full power and would operate within its lower Db output levels. This made for a very quiet system that added 4 Db@1M to the ambient Db of the live room (30Db). The live room was insulated with Rockwool sound insulation, double plaster board and a felt sound dampening material finish. Art Studio: One Mitsubishi Electric LGH-50RX5-E Lossnay Ducted Heat Exhanger was installed in the art studio with 125mm square type double diffusion diffusers entering the main area at high level. The art studio is a 75 square meters area with a open space for art installations. Db output levels were not important for this area but a fresh air ambient had a relaxing affect on the room. Music Studio Air Conditioning cost: We carefully balanced expensive resources of air conditioning, attenuators, and air exchange equipment against the client’s requirements of a very quiet music studio. With the mix of the attenuators and high-quality low Db equipment the requirements were met. It was important to run the equipment at a sub high speed operating range of the air conditioning equipment so that Db levels are not exceeded. The Mitsubishi Electric heat-pump air conditioning systems provided a great value way of cooling and heating within a short space of time and with little running cost as the equipment has a COP of 3.6 input power. Heat-pump installation criteria: This Music Studio air conditioning heat-pump installation was undertaken by lead engineer Sean Handley with assistance from installation engineer Craig Fogarty. All pipe and services were installed on the outside of the building on standard wall clips. The music studio air conditioning units have a life span of around 15 years depending on their use. Installation time 6 days. Smoking Areas: In
some areas smoking is permitted which can make the air stagnant and
surroundings smell. With a air exchange unit which can be set to bypass
like the Mitsubishi electric Lossnay this air would be refreshed. For
