Our main goal is to supply your company or organisation with a comprehensive and cost-effective solution of testing so that you are able to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.We use the latest computerised PAT testing equipment and all appliances are tested in accordance with the Institution of Engineering and Technology and its Code of Practice. Testing can be undertaken out of hours or weekends to minimise disruption if required. All our engineers are highly experienced, and are qualified to City and Guilds standard 2377, which gives you the peace of mind that a quality job will be carried out. Any corrective work such as fuse changes re-termination of leads and replacement of plugs due to them being damaged is free and no charge is made for providing this service, many companies may charge you for this.
 

What Is A Portable Appliance?

Any electrical appliance that is powered between 50 and 415 volts and is connected to the electrical mains by a cable and plug is classified as a portable appliance, and will therefore need periodic PAT testing.  In practice appliances less than 50v are deemed low voltage and therefore require no formal inspection. The name suggests that the appliance should be ‘portable’, in reality any appliance that can be moved without unwiring is categorised as a portable appliance. As well as static equipment such as PC monitors, the guidelines cover electrical appliances owned by employees who use them at work, as these can obviously cause harm to those who use them and others in close proximity. The regulations apply to all appliances as if they were the property of a business that are being used during working hours. A basic description is any item fitted with a plug .

SERVICE PACKAGES:

• Equipment and accessories are inspected for electrical and mechanical operation and safety. . 
• All electrical powered equipment is checked for electrical safety using portable appliance-testing equipment (PAT) 
• Repairs to all Electrical and Electro-mechanical equipment where required. 
• Equipment is certified for Electrical and Mechanical safety. 
• A fully computerised inventory including all relevant test data and diagnostic reports, fault reports, stock losses and a Certificate of Safety are provided after each service. These are presented in a portable appliance tester ‘Service Log’. 
• All equipment cleaned required.

PORTABLE APPLIANCES - these are items that plug into the mains socket, a Microwave for example.

FIXED EQUIPMENT - this could be the Central Heating Boiler or Hot Water heater.
