Why air

environments will require a specialist heat exchanger coil

conditioning and refrigeration heat exchanger coils which are installed
in corrosive applications such as industrial, commercial, medical,
process and marine environments have a reduced heat exchanger coil life
span. Most air conditioning manufactures these days do not put a
specialist treatment on their outdoor condensing unit coils which leaves
them exposed to corrosion. The main obvious problems with a defective
condensing unit coil is its ability to reject heat or cooling energy,
this reduces the refrigeration effect making the refrigeration / air
conditioning system operate out of it design parameters thus consuming
more energy, making the system operate at higher temperature, increasing
the chance of a refrigeration leak and increasing the risk of a

The
only air conditioning manufacturer that does treat its condensing coils
as standard is Lg air conditioning. Their coils have a green / gold
tinge in colour to them. These systems are used on a wide range of
applications including commercial, medical, process and marine. LG
air conditioning's Gold Fin outdoor heat exchanger is coated
with a gold-coloured anti-corrosion epoxy treatment on the aluminium
coil to prevent corrosion. This maintains excellent heat transfer

Gold Fin Treatment:
The
other option is the Blygold treatment which is can be used on
refrigeration as well as air conditioning coils either evaporators and
condensing coils. The Blygold system is a well-known application within
the industry and is an anti-corrosion treatment consisting of a
conversion layer followed by a polyurethane top coat. The operating
temperature range is -50˚C to 180˚C. There is no loss of heat
transfer performance and only a minimal change in air pressure drop. The
'Blygold' treatment can be applied to cooling and DX coils, run around
coils, heating coils and heat pipes. Areas of application may include: -
industrial, commercial, medical, process, marine etc. Blygold offers a 5
years warranty.
